In SAP Financial Accounting, once the customer/vendor account has been created, you can no longer change the account group anymore. However, if you use partner roles in Sales and Distribution, in some cases you can change the account group from an ordering address to a ship-to address, for example.

 

The account group in SAP determine the followings:

  • the interval for the account numbers
  • whether the number is assigned internally by the SAP system or externally by the user manually (type of number assignment)
  • whether it is a one-time account
  • which fields are ready for input or require filled when creating and changing master records (field status)

Note:

When creating new account groups in the SAP system, do not forget to maintain the field status. Otherwise all corresponding fields are shown.

 

Caution:

You may only delete an account group from the SAP system if there are no master records referencing this account group. Otherwise you can no longer display or change the master record.
