The manual entry of the partner company is only required in special cases since it is normally transferred from the master record of one of the accounts included in the document.

The ‘Partner Company Ready for Input’ indicator should be considered together with the indicator ‘Cross-Company‘.

Documents can be posted cross-company and you can enter the partner company for G/L account items manually. the partner company is enterd at item level via ‘Extras -> Additional Data’.

Reason and Prerequisites

As result of restrictions imposed by some database structure (length of field to store profiles = 3750, length of name for one profile = 12 => maximum of 312 profiles per user) the former version of function module GET_AUTH_VALUES did assume that a user can only hold up to 300 profiles (although actually 312 profile assigments would be technically possible). When more than 300 profiles have been assigned to a user the function module discarded all found profiles and returned an empty result (number of profiles = 0).

Apply the provided support packages or correction instructions.

When you start a report, you do not receive an output list, instead the system generates SAP error message AB020 “No records were selected” or AB064 “No data was selected” even though data exists.

Solution: If the report is started using a variant, the definition of the variant may be incorrect. Within the variant there is a hidden parameter PA_XANLG (select assets) that must be set to ‘X’ if you want to output assets. If this parameter is empty, no assets are selected.

You can check the value of the parameter in Transaction SE38. If the error occurs in a user-defined local or system variant (CUS&…), you must delete the variant and create it again since the parameter cannot be changed manually. If the error occurs in an SAP standard variant, contact the SAP Hotline.

Note 141876 – Authorization checks in asset reporting

Assets standard reports (for example, Asset Balance, Asset History) list fewer fixed assets for a user with restricted authorizations than for a user with all authorizations. In the worst case, no fixed assets are displayed at all. However, Transaction SU53 does not report any missing authorizations.

For performance reasons, authorizations are converted into select statements in the logical database of Asset Accounting. This way only fixed assets are selected for which the user has the display authorization instead of all fixed assets being selected and then those fixed assets without authorizations being excluded by sorting. You cannot use Transaction SU53 for analysis because no authority check is performed owing to the method described above, but instead only due allowed fixed assets are selected.

Solution: In the user profile defined for the user, check for which fixed assets the user has authorizations and extend these if required. The authorization objects relevant for the reports of Asset Accounting are the same as those effective in master data maintenance:

A_S_ANLKL, A_S_WERK, A_S_GSBER and A_S_KOSTL (as of Release 4.6C)

If the user is provided with the necessary authorizations but nevertheless no values are displayed, check whether Note 740966 is valid for your release and implement Note 740966 if necessary.

Standard value key is the key which defining and giving a dimension such as time or area, to one of up to six standard values.

SAP system uses standard values as parameters with origin “standard value” in formulas to calculate execution time, capacity requirements and costs.

The standard value key is used to assign a parameter ID to standard values. This parameter ID identifies the standard value in a formula. The parameter ID can be used to determine the key word for a standard value, such as setup, machine or labor.

The key words identify standard values in the operations of a task list. You have to assign values to the standard values in the task list.

Define Standard Value Key

To define standard value keys. The standard value key determines the meaning of the six standard values in the operation. The SAP System assigns a parameter ID to the standard values of the operation and the work in network activities.

The parameter ID in turn determines:

• the key word displayed for the standard value on the screen, for example, setup, machine, labor, teardown etc.
• the dimension (for example, time, quantity, volume) of the standard value

At the same time, the parameter IDs are the names used for the standard values in formulas for the calculation of

• execution time
• capacity requirements
• costs

A parameter which is to be used in a standard value key must have the origin “2″.

If capacity leveling is used, SAP recommends that you always enter the parameter key for the setup standard values in the same position (for example, in the first column) in all standard value keys.

For these type of issues, firstly check whether the error occurs locally on individual PCs or independent of it and also check whether the error only occurs for some users, for example due to Customizing (mentioned in SAP Note 316243).

If it only occurs locally, this points to an installation problem of the PCs. Check the installation or carry out a new installation. Search in the DUMP for field SY-MSGLI, it may possibly contain a note about the cause of the error.

The Dumps will occur when we scroll SAP Screens. SAP throws this dump when many SAP sessions were opened simultaneously and PC busy with other applications running on it.

Recommendations to avoid this dump is make sure the Laptop/PC is not over loaded, reboot PC to clean up SAP GUI buffers. Use page up and page down options in SAP Screen.

To link the symbolic accounts (from SAP HR) to GL accounts to ensure FI-HR integration. The FI-HR integration depends on the Symbolic GL Accounts. The flow is:

For every wage type you will have to assign the Sysmbolic account. The symbolic account will decide to which type of account (Expense Account, Balancesheet Account, Customer, Vendor) the postings will be made in Finance. In the Wage types Posting, you will define whether account will be debited or credited.

For each Symbolic account you will have to assign the GL account to which the postings in SAP FI has to be made. Symbolic Account act as a carrier between SAP FI & HR.

FI-HR Integration

Symbolic accounts are a way to bring together financial amounts from different sources that are all bound for the same General Ledger (G/L) account or accounts. Posting documents transfer liabilities and expenses from HR to FI. Symbolic accounts map wage types on the HR side to G/L account numbers on the FI side.

All the postings related to the wagetypes are posted to corresponding GL Accounts through symbolic account assignment. GL Accounts are created using FS00. Symbolic A/cs & GL A/cs mapping is to be done in OBYG transaction.

For FI-HR Integration first employee groupings will be done :

1. EMP groupings like a) Employees b) Workers.this basic differentaition will be done becasue to post the FI entries like Salary account and Wages account.
2. After employee groupings Symbolic Accounts will be defined.In this symbolic you differntiate whether the particular symbolic account is an expense or balance sheet account or vendor account or thrid party vendor account.
3. Third step will be assigning symbolic accounts for wage types OH02 transaction
4. At last you have to assign Gl accounts for symbolic accounts.

In the BOM header, you maintain data that refers to the entire object:

• For a multiple BOM, this means one of the alternative BOMs for an object (for example, a product)
• For a variant BOM, this means one of the variants

This data is maintained on various header details screens in SAP system. On each detail screen, you see the header data that identifies the BOM uniquely in the SAP system.

BOM Items

BOM items are the component parts of a product. Item data applies to only one actual item in a BOM.

Some data has to be entered for all item categories as soon as you create an item. Other specific data can be completed in the application areas (such as design and purchasing) for all item categories.

This section describes the data required for creating items of all item categories. The data which is dependent on item category is described in detail in Item Detail Screens.

Sub-Items

Partial quantities of a BOM item may be installed at different points. Sub-items are used to describe the different installation points of these partial quantities.

In Customizing for Production, you define for each item category whether sub-items are supported by choosing Bill of material > Item Data > Define item categories. For example, in the standard system, sub-items are supported for Stock items and Variable-size items.

In the standard SAP system, changes to sub-item data are not recorded by engineering change management. In Customizing for bills of material, under Define modification parameters, you can define whether the old change state of a sub-item is retained after you change the sub-item.

If at least one values of the sub-item is changed with changed effectivity parameters, the system creates a new item record for the new change state.  You can maintain the sub-item quantity and a description for each sub-item.

Is this how SAP system clears open items in the New gl? Since in SAP previous versions , I have worked with, the clearing documents in SAP system have no line items.

Check whether activated the NEW G/L splitting functionality?

If not, SAP system will work same as old release (SAP system will check whether the fields value in OPEN line items ( these fiields which are included in structure: KONTAB_1ST )are the same, if yes, SAP system will not create no line items in clearing document, if not, then SAP system will create line items as well (refer to SAP note:69767).

and if document split functionality of NewGL is active, that clearing line items must be created a pure clearing document without line items is no longer possible. For more details refer to SAP note: 950773.

• Allow Posting to Previous Period (Backposting): Indicator that allows posting to the previous period (backposting). In this case, the previous period is the preceding month.
  If you do not want to allow posting to the previous period, you must cancel the indicator (if set). Please note, however, that the indicator is set again automatically during period closing, reallowing posting to the previous period.
• Indicator: Disallow backposting after a change of period
  Indicator that prevents posting to the previous period from being reallowed automatically after a change of period. If this indicator is set, the indicator Allow posting to previous period is not set automatically during period closing.
